PROF SEZ: got a call from old friend Billy B last week who wanted to point out the lyrics in Nancy Sinatra's mid-60's gem "These Boots Are Made...." -- he thought they were quite lame, but I love 'em: "...you keep lyin' when you oughta be truthin'", and also(my fave) "...you keep samein' when you oughta be a changin'..." -- pure poetry!!..... then again,I just love it when Chuck Berry sings about Maybelline "... motorvatin' over the hill..." -- pure genius!!... get a minute and go back and hear em again.... also add 'No Time To Live' by Traffic and "Maybe" by the Chantels.... thanks go to Chinese Dan for his latest gang @ Juniper's that included Ms Cheryl/Kurt/Kevin/Nancy/Mary-Grace and Kim & Kandy(which SOUNDS like a porno tag-team of wrestlers but is not).... had a great time (and meal) last Sa night @ Middletown Elks Club -- while Tony D was happy to see lotsa meat--I was happy to see Tony the Cop & Barbara;Darlene & Al; the long-lost Jenny the Excellent Tambourine Queen & Rico the Beard; old Joe; Paul Rogo Sr & MaryAnne;missed Dan and also Mayor/Educator Tom S...thanks to Bob & Frank and the staff for making us feel at home... speaking of home: former RH bassist Carl V & his babe have relocated to sunny Florida-- after several years in Maine where he worked outdoors as a speedbump at the local WalMart... so Happy B-Day to Carl who is now reading at a 7th grade level!! he has truly become an inspiration to under-achievers everywhere!! also B-Day greetings go to Cousin Mike up @ CC....we'll see you in Manchester on Sa & in Taftville(think Norwich) on Su -- both events are open to the public.... on the way home listen to Cat Stevens' "Sad Lisa" or to "Young Girl Blues" by Donovan AFTER you listen to "Theme For An Imaginary Western" by Mountain... then tack on "Lay Down(Candles In The Rain)" by Melanie.... My 31 2015
PROF SEZ:first off it's best witches for recovery to our friend Big Fred from the Manchester Am Legion -- it's no fun to ridicule/insult you when you're not there.... if you readers have not yet gone up to the Am Legion hall dances, you should check it out --probably built in the 20's or 30's, it's a great place for a dance w/a great DANCING crowd--it's like stepping into 1956 where your Dad's Bowling league holds its meetings... 2 weeks ago we played an afternoon show at the Wtrbry Senior Center to a great bunch of folks including our old friend Annie from the Friar Tuck daze.... Alexis & Danessa were way too nice to us (although they both failed to provide us w/lobster bisque) .... our thanks to Jimmy Briggs for filling in for Tony D who was hospitalized w/an hysterectomy.... that evening we had a tableful of folks at Juniper's thanks to our special PR guy Chinese Dan(he prefers 'Party Planner') & his (somewhat normal?) babe Cheryl-- we already knew Curt & Wayne & Nicole the goatkeeper, but we also had the privelege of ruining the evening of Kevin & Nancy & June & Mary Grace...Frank Devino was on hand and we were all astounded to see that the imaginary wife we'd heard about actually existed!!-- then again,it was hard to believe that there was a female involved with Chinese Dan other than his blow-up doll... also with us that evening were Gil & Audrey & the full-bodied Ms Deborah(talking about her hair)& Elio, along w/Charlie & Barbara & Lurch.... hiding in the corner were the long-lost Linda & Darlene.... we also had the pleasure of Heritage Village BigWig Beth Miller and her gang of Activists, along w/the unofficial Mayor of Middlebury Bob Ford and his babe Alison or Allison... on hand with us the following night at Juni's was Eric & Marie & Jerry & Mary and the newly betrothed Dale & Mary(apparently 1 heart attack wasn't enough)... we did our 'special' arrangement of 'Happy Birthday' for Kim.... we also had Ronnie & Drew.... Ron & Lorraine came over from the mean streets of Cheshire... Mark Fusco(the Pauly Shore of the drums) appeared w/his babe -- so at least we had something to look at while we faked being interested in what he was talking about... but the biggest surprise of the evening is when WATR partial-celebrities Jay Crawford & Julie & Bob came in -- BEFORE 11:40!!! ... by the the way, thanks to Dick & Cookie for being on hand AND for driving WATR Sundy night semi-star JB to his various destinations thereby avoiding those pesky police and their warrants... we ran into our new friend Danessa again last Th when she appeared at the Mt Olive gathering along with G S Regan insurance savant Michael Regan... my guess is that neither of them knew we were playing.... also many thanks to Carleena & Rev Blue who made us feel right at home..... Birthday greetings go out to Billy B, Maxx Garfin,Dixie, and JJ... coming soon it's B-Day #50 for Karen the Evil Flower Princess.... this week we'll be in Waterbury,Bethlehem and Plainville doing what we do best -- making noise and insulting people
Ap 30 2015
PROF SEZ: gotta start by saying how terrific it was playing for The Good Old Boys bash over in New Britski -- here's a bunch of guys who were members of 6 or 7 different NB gangs back in the daze going around beating the hell out of each other until some years back they realized that they all had a common background and were now a bit too old to fight one another and formed this fraternal/civic/social group --- actually very well organized.... they treated us very well -- helped move gear and were very friendly and positive toward us -- plus I warned them that we are tuff-guy musicians and didn't want to have to hurt any of them should they misbehave -- which,of course, scared the hell out of them.... our thanks to John & John and Paul & Feno & Roger (I'm forgetting a few...)and to the McDonald's Girls Anne & Donna & Louise?.. and to the newly-betrothed Paul & Yvonne....our thanks go out to the entire Good Old Boys ?Organization? for having us on board..... the next evening I attended the surprise B-Day party for WATR Saturday night host and semi-celebrity Jay Crawford @ Country Club of Wadbry -- and he appeared to be surprised as he came in!! -- either that or he had just awakened -- I was delighted to be invited(thanks Karina/Steve/Ken) - altho I was half expecting the staff to ask me to leave all night -- and even more delighted that Jay was in men's clothing.... many stories were told ,but my fave line of the evening was "... a cornball in cosmic..." -- perhaps from Angel Vicky???... my thanks to Donna D who not only put up w/me, but actually got some/most of the jokes -- her parents will have to do a better job of getting her tested and/or treated..... we'll be in Manchester this Sa night at a great old venue where the people seriously come to dance... it's bring-your-own food/snacks/deserts and dancing shoes and they provide the drinkage......Tony D has been busy getting into shape for the upcoming lifeguard season and Draper is just finishing his Masters Thesis on the spelling of 'cat' throughout history...
Ap 7 2015
PROF SEZ: so we get to the Jay Crawford/Julie Ferguson/WATR Cancer Survivor Benefit in Watertown on Friday night and there's already a packed house!!! -- apparently no one thought we were playing so it appeared safe... lotsa old friends we have & have not seen in a while...for example we had Mike and his babe Lois -- who we know as Lady Gaga, along with Gil & Audrey & Eric & Marie,Darlene...Tony the Cop and his babe Barbara were on hand --fortunately he brought Terry(sans Art) and Linda... unfortunately he also brought Rosie O'Donnell look-a-like Rich the Polish Prince ...we brought along the delightful Ms Deborah to sing a few and to help us look a whole lot better.... Chinese Dan made a somewhat short appearance(Cheryl says that's more than common) along w/Nicole and her lawyer Wayne... Benny the WATR sports savant was on hand...missed the names of the 2 girls who actually knew how to do the dance steps of all the old 'dance songs' -- pony/hitch-hike/mashed potato, etc.... I'm told that WATR semi-star J.B. was there but I did not see him as he was out 'collecting' hub caps in the parking lot.... got some pictures to put in here from recent shows -- if my brother-in-law Jim can teach me how to..... had a great turn-out @ J's Crab Shack up in Hartford -- both of Draper's friends showed up along w/Deb and ?Paul? who were very complimentary--THANKS!-- she's a grandmother who looks barely 30!!.... thanks to Mark Fusco for filling in for an 'ailing' Tony D a coupla weeks back-- turns out Mr D was posting some shirtless selfies that night on Tumblr.... thanks to the gang who came out to see us at Juniper's last Sa night--Gil/Audrey/Eric/Marie/Charlie/Barbara/Ronnie/Drew/Dale -- the 'handler' who brought Artie M and his sax.... good player and it was nice to see him in men's clothing....Happy B-Day to Draper/Chinese Dan/Deb Driver/Jay Crawford....
Mr 11 2015
PROF SEZ: we've got a St Patrick's Day party coming up this Sa night at the Marlborough Am Legion hall on Rte 66... it is hosted by our friend Keron who we've known for 10 or 15 years and it is open to the public... last week we played for a great group of folks up in MA -- The Red Rock Cruisers Car Club - our thanks to Tom Q and his gang for the kind words -- and great food!! we did the Southington Elks Valentines Dance a couple weeks back and it was a great success despite Tony D showing up... dunno why they call it the Southington Elks function considering that Jeff & Lisa and a couple friends seem to do EVERYTHING!! -- they were cleaning the kitchen when we left at 12:45... we had a great crowd of new & old friends: Charlie & Cindy; Dale/Mary/Steve/Rose/Gary; Tony the Cop/his babe and George from the old New Haven AFM; Jerry & his babe; Barbara Wysocki brought her ski pals; Ron & Darlene; Rico & Jenny(still plays great tambourine); Ron & Lorraine; Gov. Malloy coudn't make it -- hadta tie his shoes which took most of the night-- hope I'm not forgetting anyone...Draper did his best Yoko Ono vocals, and also gave Tony D a new winter hat from his Garanimals collection... see you Sa in Marlborough -- think sunshine from now on.....

Draper's posse came out in force last Wednesday when we played at Jay's Crab Shack up in Hartford -- the food is delightfully light and the fish tanks have some strange creatures -- then again,so did the stage that night.... our thanks to Cliff Davis.... looking for gift ideas as the holidaze approach -- thinking of some Ambien for Draper and one of those NoNo hair trimmers for Tony D and his delicate bikini line... played the Torrington Elks Club last Sa and had a great turnout -- Dale brought a gang of friends(none of whom could say anything nice about him)-- and Ron & Darlene drove up to see us(2 weeks in a row!!! -- obviously some masochistic tendencies going on there)... our thanks to Deb T for bringing us in.... if you like to dance you may wanna join us some Sa in Manchester at the American Legion Hall(it's across from the Armory on Main St).... it's a great old building in the town where I was supposed to grow up, and it's kinda like stepping into 1954... PROF SEZ: well, we made it thru the Fright Night weekend at Juniper's -- no, not Halloween -- Tony D's birthday!! he was feted(or fetid?)w/a single candle on a 'special' cake -- due to dietary concerns it was a cheeseburger.... Draper got him some pretzels and thought enough to lick the salt off of each one before presenting them to Tony -- you know how very protective Draper can be....you can read more about it on Tony's Italian social networking sites:Shutuppayoufacebook & Shutuppayoutube.... we were joined F night by Gil & Mary & friends along w/our new friends Virginia(the tambourine player who I ran into M at Harbor Freight) and Richard... I think the newly betrothed Erik & Marie were there w/Mary & Jerry??.... Tony's daughter Rachel & FIANCEE!!! Carlos were 2 of only 4 people to come in costume: she a cutie card and he in a great Incredible Hulk costume -- that Tony D thought was Shrek!!!!... our friend Mark Fusco & his babe had great costumes as well: she a blonde cutie and he doing his very best Johnny Depp as Capt Jack Sparrow... they had just come from dining out where all the other pirates eat -- AAAAAARRRBY'S.... kudos go as usual to head waiter / bartender / operational manager / chief bottle-washer John who has to put up w/an array of dolts every night, and to Karen -- who has to put up w/us.... Sa night we had a packed house from the beginning with Gil & Mary coming back for more along w/Erik & Marie & Jerry & Mary... Charlie & Barbara were on hand(sorry we didn't get your Chuck Berry song in -- we were saving it to include Jay Crawford -- who never did appear!!)... we also had Insurance King Lenny there w/his babe along with our old friends Art & Terry who came out of the Cheshire woods to see us w/ex-Wtrbry's Finest Tony & wife Barbara... Ron & Darlene came over from Bristol... former City Hill student Mark brought his gang and we also saw Naugatucks' own funeral king Mr Zembruski and his trophy wife(both dressesd up!).... little Jo & big Ray brought along their New Britski contingency... now, is it just me or is this Burger King 10-piece for $1.49 a hell of a deal or what!?!?!... and the 'zesty' sauce seems the same as what you get with your Outback bloomin' onion!?!?!....oh,sorry,drifted off a bit there....did I mention that our long lost dancing friends Bob & Donna finally made an appearance? -- notice that he throws her around a lot but she never throws him? ....also dancing up a storm were Ronnie & Drew -- does she ever stop?? ... 42?-year-old Chinese Dan(drinking a pumpkintini) and his 19?-year-old girlfriend Cheryl brought attorney Wayne and his star client Nicole(in a slinky dress!!)... Curt was w/them as well, but was not as attractive.... they stayed in the dining room most of the night due to some sort of court order.... Dan later pointed out that ice cream king Dippy Dave had joined the festivities -- it took me almost 2 hours to figure out which guy in an oversized cowboy hat was him -- that was a tough one,Dan.... off to Portland & Clinton this weekend -- hope you can join us......
O 30 2014
PROF SEZ: sad to mark the passing of Mary Mobilio a true friend of ours -- she always showed me & Tony support & enthusiasm much like her departed husband Bob did all those years(how I was accepted by him I'll never understand).....we also lost Jack Bruce this week -- the bassist & vocalist of Cream --- go back and listen to 'White Room'/'Deserted Cities Of the Heart'/'Sunshine Of Your Love'.... his version of 'Theme For An Imaginary Western' is not as strong as the Mountain version, but he did WRITE the (incredible) song that Felix Pappalardi takes a step even further along.... friends and I were reminiscing recently re the Greater Wadbry Area and came up w: Hatry Electronics / Worth's / Rose Shop / Tower Grill(wife DD's first job)/ Two Guys /Gugie's / Baker's Rstrnt / Bond Radio(we used to get Bond Bread DELIVERED to the house!!).... sadly the railroad car next to the now-defunct Wolcott Hobby Shop has been taken away!!...what's next?they gonna come up w/a phone that's portable??... speaking of things that have gone past-- Little Drummer Boy Tony D hits the Golden Age of Medicare this weakend as he enters into his 66th year!!! we'll be at Juniper's this weekend so stop by F and/or Sa and throw him a fish -- or more preferably a steak....

OOPS --I mean recently expanded drum set... you'd never know his set is from 1985!!!! then again his haircut is from 1958!!! I'll be on WATR radio(AM1320) this Sa night w/Jay Crawford and the recently vacationed Ms Julie(think she flew to Ansonia)..... last Sa Draper & I were invited to Bethlehem for a goat roast out at band fave Nicole's place -- the food was ok but I hear that I missed out on some titillating dancing that ensued after I had left.... B-Day greetings also go out to NewKid/Steve/Edman and grandson Ted out there in Cleveland where he's taking up Space?.... recent listening has included Tom Waits/U2 and FEVER TREE's self-titled debut LP--remember 'San Francisco Girls' from 1968??... see you at Middletown Elks Club on Sa the 25th -- open to all and everyone w/a great dance floor....

PROF SEZ:yes, this is B-Day month for me -- where people go out of their way to take a shot/make fun of/insult ME for a change..... 2 years ago I played all weekend w/o realizing that Kristin & Steve had placed a weighted balloon bouquet on my amp that read: 'Happy Birthday Princess' ..... thanks to Michael Regan for hooking me up w/Medicare stuff.... we will be celebrating this year at Junipers on the 21st & 22nd.... last month at Junipers we were joined by Vic & Beverly / Darlene & Al /WATR Music Museum hosts Jay Crawford(BOTH NIGHTS) & Ms Julie / Ronnie & Drew(who stayed most of the night!) / B-Day Boy Walter & his pals / Lurch / and Bret? or Bart? or Burt???..... special thanks go to Gary Springmeyer who not only is my guitar tech/luthier,but is also a friend and a good musical chat... hey, didya hear Jay Crawford's Music Museum show last Saturday night ?? -- he had Bill D on as guest who is very knowledgeable re The Beatles...they did a nice 5oth -year tribute -- ala Alan Todd re the Everly Brothers a couple years back... when the band is not booked on a Saturday night you can usually find me sitting in on Jay's show adding 'color commentary' (and insipid remarks).... Saturday night we had quite a crowd at the Wtrbry Elks Club--not that they came to see us--but because they now have 'celebrity chef' Dan Goggin in their kitchen--Tony D was also in their kitchen but was immediately asked to leave on the end of Mr Goggin's foot...speaking of celebs-- we had Lord & Lady Gaga & Gil in the house as well as hosts Rita & Tony;Rick Dalton and his 'gang' spent the evening w/us and didn't throw anything at us...Tony says Rick used to sing a mean Gene Pitney once upon a time--then,of course,he got a real job...please note that we added a last-minute gig this coming Sunday afternoon out at the Winchester in Portland--is there anyone that does not like Donna the owner??--just lovely...why,if I were an older man I'd certainly.....

Ap 2 2013
PROF SEZ: 'thanks'(again) to Brother Jim who has posted new concert footage of us on youtube--click on the links below....those of you who may have seen the Watertown High Skool performance(s) of "Fiddler On/Roof" already know what a terrific display of talent/group cooperation it was...sure,my grandson Ted starred as Teyve, and Danielle Fusco was superb--despite her lineage--but there were no 'weak links' in the entire cast... no poor/lame singing, acting, speaking... you know how most hs 'productions' have a few weak spots...this one had NONE !! ...and no morons in sneakers or jeans!!!! even the prop/stage hands had it down to a 'choreographed' science!! .... other good news: the Betsy Ross diner has re-opened... a new Taco chain is opening down the street as well...Tony D(and I)will again be in Late-Night Heaven... yes,I was on the WATR Jay Crawford Show this past Sa night where I gave Julie a 'special' snack(manufactered by Purina)---you can tell we just adore her... other band members Tony & Draper The B-Day Boy were unavailable as they got together for Passover to prepare a special Seder Meal of Skittles & stale popcorn... our friends Darlene & Earl joined Donna & Dotty along w/Lord & Lady Gaga & Lt Pete last week at Spice in Southington.... Jo & Ray stopped in(as if Jo actually 'stops') last Friday at the Gateway Cafe in Bristol where Brian Fitzsimmons/patrick/gerald played cowbell for us--nice to see him in men's clothing....owner George and his staff treat us very nicely...we'll be out in Middlebury this F & Sa @ Junipers Restaurant where we always have a great time... see you there,Prof
Mr 19 2013
PROF SEZ: come see us Friday night in Southington at Spice Bar--it's at the corner of Rte 10 at Eden Ave just south of the center--even Draper can find it...great food/good folks...we are off on Saturday so I will be on the radio w/Jay Crawford(AM1320)--- after i watch grandson Ted star in "Fiddler On The Roof" at Watertown HS...last Friday we had a ball making noise and insulting people out at the Winchester Cafe in Portland--Donna the Head Honcho is always very nice to us(and probably everyone)...Steve Kimball was there w/bride & friends, and while Neil,Joan,Ronnie,Mary&Denise were not there,we did have a surprise visit from the long-lost Duke-Ettes--all dressed to kill-- along with Jonny Swing & Lea(?Leah?)...it was St Patrick's Day weekend so Tony D downed 6 'green beers' before he realized that they were bottles of Listerine--so he smelled great for the rest of the night...see you all on Friday in Southington.... best,Prof
Mr 12 2013
PROF SEZ: well,it's a sad day now that Tony D was overlooked as new Pope and a foriegner was named instead...after all the time he spent working and fighting against that fatal dose of mediocrity--better luck next round....hey didya see that the 'Betsy Ross Diner'(as we'll always know it)is re-opening soon---see Tony--there is a God....the Waterbury Elks has got a new chef & crew and has started serving dinners again.. we had a great time there last Sa nite with our cowbell-bangin' little friend Lady Gaga, her husband Lord Gaga & Gil...Ronnie & Drew danced like crazy(again)all nite along w/ their (?newcomers?) friends ... our hosts Rita & Tony sang w/us and we performed our very 'special' rendition /arrangement of Happy Birthday for Dave the B-Day Boy.... on the 'babe' front we had Laura & Linda & the long lost Donna(replete w/lotsa pup photos)... this Friday it's off to Portland--we love playing at the Winchester--except for the guy who is always throwing his underwear at Draper...
Mr 4 2013
PROF SEZ: so now we're getting somewhere...now we're counting down the (bad) days until the cold & grey is gone--scientists say a strange phenomenon known as 'winter' is to blame--Daylight Savings switchover is coming this Sunday!!!!!!!! March 10....Saturday night we'll be back at the Waterbury Elks Club...everyone is welcome, just sign in at the door--- there is no cost...Draper will be back from his trip--he drove the family down to Cuba to pick up some cigars....we had a great time at the Southington Elks Valentine Dance(finally!!)...thanks to Lisa & Jeff and Buddy & Patty...we saw Darlene & Earl and (recently engaged)Jim & Holly along w/old friends Stan & Linda...conspicously absent were Lady Gaga(the Cowbell Banger),Lord Gaga & Gill as well as Rico the Beard & Jenny the Tambourine Girl--maybe we'll see them Sa nite...happy to announce that WATR semi-celebrity/DJ Jay Crawford has asked us back to perform at the Harold Leever Center Cancer Survivors Benefit again this year...it will be held Ap 28 at the Watertown American Legion on Bunker Hill Ave...we will also be on hand for the Are You Dense Cancer Benefit this Ag 25 out at Qaussy----apparently Joe & Nancy took the wrong meds and accidentally put us in the line-up again!!...don't forget to take the RH Quiz posted under the schedule in the left column... coming soon: the RH Message Board and also some new live footage--just as soon as i can bribe my brother-in-law to actually post it...my idea of new technology is to wire my ColecoVision System to my 1978 Pacer to play Pong(at the slowest speed)....Happy B-Day to wife DD and sis-in-law Martha..... best to all,Prof
